Geranium Lake

I've been inspired lately by the cottagecore and slow living lifestyle trends, and the overall homestead look. I like the idea of an environment filled with meaningful items, heritage prints, and objects with a history of previous owners.

A new collection that I've started developing taps into that feel. The main pattern is to be a floral design highlighting geranium blooms. I think for this collection and style, watercolour is the perfect medium to get the soft, hand-painted aesthetic.

Here is a sample of one of the watercolour illustrations of a geranium painted using Grumbacher's Geranium Lake and Winsor and Newton's Sap Green and Payne's Gray. The painting was scanned and the pattern is being developed in Photoshop.
